Zephyr provides an amenity-rich safe haven for people who have experienced homelessness. This Project Homekey renovation converted a tired motel into apartment homes where people can find the support they need for their next step.
Project Homekey is a California statewide initiative to sustain and rapidly expand housing for persons experiencing or at risk of homelessness. A true public-private partnership, Project Homekey gives public entities the opportunity to partner with experienced affordable housing developers like Linc.
The completely renovated property includes 135 studio apartment homes and two 2-bedroom manager’s units. Five units include accommodation for hearing and/or visual impairment and 14 are fully wheelchair accessible. Rent subsidies are provided through project- based vouchers provided by the City of Long Beach.
A community room and outdoor patio spaces provide welcoming gathering areas for residents, fostering a sense of community. The case management offices for Linc’s signature intensive case management services are adjacent to each other to ensure that both residents and case managers feel supported. Case management services are funded by LA County DHS, Housing for Health.
