Liberty Village

Special Needs

Liberty Village is a 38-unit affordable rental community located in Beaumont, CA. This site will be home to veterans in Riverside County, including helping to meet the urgent need for housing for homeless veterans. According to the Riverside County 2014 Homeless Veterans Count and Survey, there were 173 unsheltered veterans, 98 of whom were chronically homeless and 146 having either chronic health conditions or physical disabilities in need of permanent housing. This project has received support from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the County of Riverside Department of Veterans Services, and the County of Riverside Continuum of Care. The site is located within short distance of Beaumont’s major bus lines including the Commuter Link 120 line which has a stop at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System. Beaumont is centrally located within 20 miles of the Loma Linda and San Bernardino Veterans Affairs Centers and just over a half mile from the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 223. Additionally, the site is within walking distance or a bus ride to grocery stores, public parks, pharmacies, banks, schools, major retail employment centers, and a library.

Along with a manager’s unit onsite, the development will serve 37 veteran households: 19 units for homeless veterans with a disability, two units for chronically homeless veterans, and 16 units for veteran families earning less than 60% of area median income for Riverside County. Community areas include multi-purpose space to host resident programs, a computer lab, and private meeting rooms for service providers and case managers. LINC will partner with established agencies that serve veterans to provide on-site support and case management as well as run our LINC Cares resident services such as adult education, youth programs, health and wellbeing activities, and social events.

LINC Housing is dedicated to providing housing that is built to be energy and water efficient. Illinois Avenue Apartments will incorporate water-saving features including: low-flow faucets and toilets, tankless water heaters, front-loading laundry room washers, drought-tolerant landscaping with no turf areas, and weather-based landscape irrigation sensors.
