LINC HOUSING CORPORATION HONORED WITH NHC 2007 “EXCELLENCE IN AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMUNICATIONS” AWARD

LINC Receives Inaugural NHC Award for Podcast Series That Recognizes the Increasing Importance of Innovative and Cutting-Edge Communications in Affordable Housing Outreach

 
Washington, DC (October 22, 2007) — LINC Housing Corporation was awarded the 2007 “Excellence in Affordable Housing Communications” Award by the National Housing Conference (NHC) today for its bi-weekly affordable housing Podcast series. LINC’s innovative and cutting-edge Podcast series, entitled Notes from the Housing Studio, focused on providing current affordable housing news, examining issues from a housing perspective, and successfully working to help “de-mystify” the often complex topic of housing policy. The series included a total of 23 episodes running from April 2006 to April 2007. NHC designed this inaugural award to help in recognizing organizations for affordable housing outreach stretching beyond the use of traditional media campaigns, in particular, as the Internet continues to quickly gain in popularity and importance as a valued communications tool.

Each 15-30 minute episode in the LINC Podcast series covered a wide range of issues related to affordable housing and housing policy. The programs provided listeners with entertaining segments, including housing trivia, housing haiku, and, ultimately, compelling interviews with some of the nation’s most respected housing industry leaders. The Podcasts could be downloaded on users’ computers or MP3 players for listening at any time.

The award was given in coordination with NHC Membership Month in October and was open to all the organization’s members. Award finalists included the Arizona Department of Housing, Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association, City of San Jose Housing Department, McCormack Baron Salazar, NCB Capital Impact, NHP Foundation and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority.
