LINC HOUSING CORPORATION HONORS THREE AFFORDABLE HOUSING LEADERS AT 13TH ANNUAL TRIBUTE EVENT

LOS ANGELES, Calif., (Oct. 19, 2006) — LINC Housing Corporation (LINC) honored three industry leaders at its 13th Annual Tribute to Affordable Housing Leaders at a ceremony on October 18 at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Nearly 300 development partners, lenders, city and regional leaders, and housing advocates gathered to honor: Nancy O. Andrews, president and CEO, Low Income Investment Fund; Julie Bornstein, president, The Campaign for Affordable Housing; and Percival Vaz, president, AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc.

“Each year, this event spotlights some of housing’s brightest stars,” said Hunter L. Johnson, LINC’s president and CEO. “This year’s recipients have made a significant impact on the quality of life for families and senior, and for our communities. They have devoted their working hours to making available the funding, the tools, the programs, the housing, and most of all, the vision that is needed for all of us to build better neighborhoods.” Each recipient was given the William F. McKenna Award, named after one of the founding board members of LINC and a long-time advocate for affordable housing.

About the Honorees

Nancy O. Andrews, with more than 30 years of experience in the community development field, is president and CEO of the Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF) headquartered in San Francisco. LIIF targets the poorest of the poor, aiming its programs to build bridges out of poverty for low income people and their communities. Over the years, LIIF has provided nearly $500 million in loans and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations in more than 35 states, leveraging nearly $4 billion. Andrews resides in San Francisco.

Julie Bornstein is president of The Campaign for Affordable Housing, a national organization that coordinates and assists state and local housing groups to conduct a public education campaign to dispel the myths and put forth the truth about the benefits of affordable housing. Prior to her current position, Bornstein served as director of the California Department of Housing and Community Development, leading the department through some of its most productive years. In addition, Bornstein serves on a number of boards including the California Housing Partnership Corporation, the California Rural Development Council and the California Housing Consortium. Bornstein works and lives in Southern California.

Since 1996, AMCAL’s primarily focus has been on affordable housing. All AMCAL developments — even those affordable — look, feel and are the quality of market-rate development. Under Vaz’s leadership, AMCAL, in conjunction with its partners and affiliate companies, has planned, developed, built and managed developments worth more than $350 million.
