General Nature & Scope of Work

Reporting to the Director of Resident Services, Resident Services Coordinator is responsible for handson implementation of the LINC Cares resident services model and to assess the need for additional social, education and recreational programs at assigned LINC residential communities. Guides, mentors, and assists in training and overseeing the work of other Resident Services Coordinators, interns, and volunteers in the delivery of services. Maintains strong relationship with residents and becomes familiar member of the community, works closely with third party property managers, as well as other LINC departments. Establishes and maintains rapport with overall community.

Illustrative Examples of Work/Essential Functions

•   Engage in a community assessment process, including surveying residents, identifying community assets, local community partners
•   Coordinate and implement programs according to the LINC Cares model
•   Work in collaborative and productive partnerships with staff, property managers and residents to implement programs at various properties
•   Design and provide programs that promote good health, positive social development, and strong academic performance for low-income children, homework support, monitoring student behavior, mentoring, etc.
•   Assist corporate office in coaching and supporting in the area of risk management
•   Facilitate relationships between field staff and property management
•   Contact and provide referrals to outside agencies
•   Plan on-site activities
•   Oversee work performance and coordinate volunteers as identified for specific sites; train interns as needed to deliver services and resolve issues
•   Report monthly activities and expenditures and prepare written reports and correspondence on program reporting
•   Typically be present for events, greeting residents, working with parents, seniors and children
•   Develop and maintain rapport with community
•   Perform other duties as assigned
•   Represent LINC Cares at local collaborative networks

Ability to:
•   Implement and manage day to day tasks related to resident services programs, including program assessment and evaluation
•   Oversee performance of assigned field and volunteer staff
•   Facilitate meetings and give presentations to small and large groups
•   Develop curriculum and workshop materials
•   Develop a network of resources within the community
•   Manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
•   Work well in teams and partnerships
•   Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in working with multiracial and multilingual communities
•   Communicate via email, telephone and in writing on a frequent basis
•   Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends; travel to sites 50% of time
•   Possess vehicle, ability to drive, appropriate auto insurance coverage and a valid California’s Driver’s license

Education & Experience

A combination of education and related experience may substitute for education requirements.

•   AA degree; or pursuing a BA degree or equivalent in a social science; social work, recreation, or education or equivalent experience serving communities in the following areas: community organizing, senior services, educational services, social services, gerontology, recreation, or youth and family.
•   Experience interacting in a culturally diverse community.

•   Work is performed in an office environment and in the community, under pressure and requires the ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities and demands
•   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, twist, lean, move from one location to another, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and sit and use a keyboard.
•   Travel by various modes of private and commercial transportation within the region may be required.
•   The work environment will usually be in a recreational room or common area. The noise level is usually moderate but will vary depending on activity participating in.
•   May be required to lift up to at least 10 pounds.
