Paul M. Nowatka - Director
Paul Nowatka is currently in his second term as Councilman with the
City of Torrance, where he has served on numerous boards and committees
including the Workforce investment Network (WiN) Policy Board as chairman,
and the League of California Cities. Prior to this elected position, he
was Torrance Community Services Commissioner. Paul is a Retired Police
Lieutenant, having 33 years of honorable service with the Torrance Police
Department.

He has many years of experience in city and regional planning, serving
as a director of the Southern California Association of Governments
and First Vice President of the South Bay Cities Council of Governments.
He has been a faculty member of the Simon Wiesenthal Centers
Tools for Tolerance program and is an active board member
with numerous community organizations including the Torrance Symphony
Board, the Salvation Army, Torrance Education Foundation, and University
of Southern California Delinquency Control Institute. Following the attacks
upon the World Trade Center in 2001, Paul served with the Salvation Army
at Ground Zero for two weeks supporting recovery workers. He is currently
acting in a four play series based upon 9/11 in which he portrays
various U.S. statesmen.
