Tim Kohut - Director
Tim Kohut, one of LINC Housings board of directors, is an architect and senior
strategist at Collaborative Project Consulting with an expertise in single and
multi-family residential design and construction. With more than 25 years
experience in sustainable design, Tims background includes award-winning
projects as well as on-the-ground experience with the Peace Corps in Western Honduras.
Prior to joining Collaborative Project Consulting, Tim was Vice President and Director
of Architecture for Abode Communities (formerly known as the Los Angeles Community Design
Center), where he worked for eleven years. He was involved in the design and construction
of nearly 1,000 units of affordable housing, two neighborhood revitalization plans, five
childcare centers, a health clinic, and a 27,000 square foot recreation and family resource
center. Tim was principal in charge on Casa Dominguez and Ivy Terrace, both of which achieved
LEED for Homes Platinum. During his tenure with Abode, Tim initiated and designed the
infrastructure for sustainable design, leaving a legacy of projects that have achieved
LEED for Homes since his departure. Apart from his work at Collaborative, Tim is a District
Strategist for 2030 District Los Angeles, a regional planning nonprofit whose goal is
to reduce carbon emissions in existing buildings by 50% by the year 2030.
Tim has presented nationally on green building, conducted workshops for the Los Angeles Chapter
of the U.S. Green Building Council and the Southern California Association for Nonprofit Housing
(SCANPH), the Enterprise Foundation, and presented for classes at UCLA, USC, Sci-ARC, and Cal
Poly Pomona. Hes also serving on the professional advisory board for the Zero Net Energy
Homes Software Design program administered by the California Energy Commission. He currently
teaches in the Graduate School of Architecture at USC, and the School of Architecture at Cal
Poly Pomona.
