The owners of a central Fresno apartment complex have completed a $1.6 million renovation of the 46-year-old development, officials announced this week.

The 60-unit Pleasant View Apartments, at 3513 N. Pleasant Ave., underwent two phases of construction. The first was the addition of a 1,325-square-foot community center and playground completed in 2013.

Building renovations followed. Apartment kitchens received new cabinets, flooring, paint, refrigerators and low-flow faucets. Three apartment kitchens were made ADA-compliant.

The buildings also received new roofs, exterior paint, and energy-efficient windows. Deck landings were repaired, parking lots were paved and dry rot and termite damage were fixed.

Community Development Trust, a national real estate investment trust company, and LINC Housing Corporation, a Long Beach-based nonprofit affordable homebuilder, announced the renovation project back in 2012 when the companies partnered to buy the complex for $2.5 million.

“When we acquired Pleasant View, we wanted to be part of the solution in a community that was hit hard by the economic crisis,” said Rebecca Clark, president and chief executive officer of LINC. “We believe housing is the foundation for stabilizing families and communities. We’re proud to work with CDT and our other partners to bring quality housing to this area, and we’re looking to do more to help.”
