Prior to joining LINC, Maritza worked with Esperanza Community Housing to
conduct an entrepreneurial development program and a formal needs assessment
that involved policy research and stakeholder interviews concerning housing
conditions in South Los Angeles. She served as a community organizer with
the Coalition of Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles mobilizing domestic
and day laborers against legal abuses. With the Casa de Salud de la Mujer
Indigena in Oaxaca, Mexico, Maritza helped bridge cultures with the
development of a treatment protocol to serve indigenous women that combined
elements of traditional and modern medicine.
Maritza is a graduate of Occidental College where she received two BAs
in Politics and Urban and Environmental Policy. As a lifelong activist of
affordable housing, Maritza values this opportunity to advance the unique
community outcomes that are created through LINCs partnerships with
charitable foundations and corporate and individual donors.
Maritzas fondness for the cowgirl life can be seen when shes
out line-dancing, going to the rodeo, or adding to an extensive collection
of denim blue jeans.
