Brandon Smith joined LINC as a Housing Research Intern for our Housing Development
department in the fall of 2004. His primary tasks revolved around identification of
sites near downtown Los Angeles suitable for preservation or conversion to affordable
housing. Upon completion of this site research project, Brandon followed his personal
passion for resident services and has become part of our LINC Cares
team. He develops activities and funding strategies for LINC Cares.
His work includes creation of new programs for the enrichment of our many thousand
families and seniors, as well as our special needs residents. He researches best
practices in the industry and identifies potential funding sources for program
advancement.

Brandon is a recent graduate of Occidental College with an A.B. degree in Urban &
Environmental Policy. Throughout this education, he completed internships with various
organizations and establishments from nonprofits such as the Southern California
Association of Non-Profit Housing and the Community Coalition to for-profits such as
Simon & Associates LLP. Brandon has also conducted extensive research for Occidental
and other organizations, and has studied Transforming Communities at American University
in Washington D.C. where he interned, volunteered, and learned about the latest
innovations in social work provisions. Brandon brings new ideas and experiences toward
approaching affordable housing and residential services to LINC Housing.
Brandon enjoys creating art sculptures, painting, and drawing. As a native to Los
Angeles, Brandon also enjoys sunshine and warm weather, visiting with family and
friends and exploring new cultural and artistic experiences.
